The homeless
Syrian children,
With hunger in
their eyes,
Pleading for
attention.
Expecting to
cry.
Crowded round
the flagpole,
The flag
descending,
For the lost
brave soldiers.
Expecting to
cry.
The bride in
ivory silk,
Whispering her vows,
Starting a
different life.
Expecting to
cry.
Gathered round
the grave,
The coffin with brass
corners,
Slowly lowered
down.
Expecting to
cry.
A mother once
caring,
Lost in her
muddled world,
Unrecognising.
Expecting to
cry.
October 2013. CP.
